BY ADEYEMI AKANJI, BAUCHI – Five days after being kidnapped, 50 years old Iliyasu B. Suleiman, who is the Principal of Government Day Secondary School, Lere in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of Bauchi State has appealed to Governor Bala Mohammed to as a matter of urgency come to his rescue by paying the ransom before his abductors kill him.

Family of the victim in an SOS titled: THE KIDNAPPING OF BAUCHI PRINCIPAL: Special Plea for Gov Bala Mohammed’s urgent Intervention stated that Ilyasu B. Suleman is the Principal of Government Day Science Secondary School, Lere in Bauchi State.

Iliyasu Suleiman and the Bauchi State Auditor General were kidnapped on Saturday January 25, 2021”.

Suleiman’s family further said; “The AG was shot on the mouth & now receiving treatment but they went with the poor Principal. He has NEVER seen N1m in his life but the kidnappers have vowed to kill him if within two days his family did not bring N50m”.

Suleiman’s helpless family are therefore calling for the intervention of Governor Bala Mohammed and well-meaning individuals.

Meanwhile, in audio recording made available to our Forefront News correspondent by the family, the kidnapped victim, 50 years old Suleiman was heard speaking under pressure directing his wife to do everything possible to raise the ransom being demanded by the kidnappers in order to secure his release.

Suleiman further directed the wife to approach the Ministry of Education, his employers for intervention as well as sell his house and any other belongings in order to raise the money being demanded, saying that he was not comfortable where he is being held captive.

In her response, the visibly shaken wife was heard saying that she was doing everything possible to meet the target but regretted that sọ far, she was only able to raise the sum of N200,000 while the car was priced for N200,000, an amount she is expected to collect to make up the amount.

On the Ministry of Education, she lamented that nothing can be done from there because according to her, when she approached the Ministry, she was told that the only amount in the account was N30,000.

Still in the audio recording, a voice can be heard from the background warning that failure to meet the demand will lead to the death of the victim.

50 year old Iliyasu Suleiman and 25 years old Zulkifiru Mohammed were kidnapped last Saturday at Kardam village in Tafawa Balewa LGA when the attempt to kidnap the Auditor General of Bauchi State was foiled.

Attempts to get the Police Command in Bauchi to react to the development failed as the Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmed Wakili did not pick his calls neither did he respond to the SMS and chats to his WhatsApp.
