BY ADEYEMI AKANJI, BAUCHI – Coach Abdu Maikaba, Technical Adviser of the Bauchi State-owned Wikki Tourists Football Club, has resigned his appointment with immediate effect, alleging insecurity and constant treat to his life.

Coach Maikaba tendered his resignation in a letter dated 9th February 2026 and addressed to the Chairman, Wikki Tourists FC.

In the letter, copies made available to Sports Writers in Bauchi, Coach Maikaba wrote: “I will like to use this opportunity to notify the Management of Wikki Tourist FC of my decision to resign as the Technical Adviser of the Club with immediate effect.

“The decision became necessary due to the following reasons: Disunity among different stakeholders of the team which makes it very difficult to achieve the set objectives of the group.”

According to him, “Safety reasons: I have received so many treats to my life in the course of carrying out this job from some sections of the fans either through physical attack or through social media platforms, for these reasons I was forced to take the decision to quit after consulting my family members.”

However, the Coach was appreciative of his time with the team, saying: “I will also use this opportunity to thank the Management for giving me the chance to serve in this great Club. I hope my resignation will be accepted.”
