Include Rehabilitation Of Keffi–Toto Federal Road In 2019 Budget: Road Users Plead With FG

BY BABA AHMED, LAFIA – Road users Plying the Keffi -Toto – Abaji federal road, have sent a passionate appeal to the Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing to as a matter of urgency include the road for rehabilitation in the 2019 budget proposal.
Passengers plying the road complained that they are usually subjected to untold hardship as they spend several hours before getting to their destinations.

One of road users, who boarded a commercial vehicle from Keffi to Gadabuke, said he spends close to one hour thirty minutes on a 30 kilometers journey as a result of failed portions of the road.
Salihu particularly lamented that the road between Laminga to Nasarawa is completely out of use as motorists more often times resort to bush parts to
scale through.
According to him; “I am going to Gadabuke about 20 minutes journey but owing to the bad nature of the road, I will have to spend about one hour
thirty minutes.”
Speaking in the same vein, a driver with the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Mohammed Najib, who plies the road for close to 20 years now, said that since the rehabilitation of the road by the former President Olusegun Obasanjo
administration nothing much has been done on the road.

He said; “Government should assist us and include it in the projects to be considered in the budget next year.”
He explained that road users going to Lagos from Nyanya in the FCT who used to prefer it as short cut have since abandoned the road since it has become badly damaged and a death trap.
A residence of Gudun Karya community along the road said business has gone down drastically since vehicles no longer ply the road and therefore urgd the government to come to their aid.
