INEC Picks April 15 For Adamawa, Kebbi Guber Rerun Polls
- Also National, States Assembly elections on line
BY EDMOND ODOK – Following sustained calls from the civil society and various interest groups for the electoral process to be concluded, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has finally fixed April 15, 2023, to conduct supplementary polls for all outstanding governorship, National, and State Assembly seats across the country.
A brief statement published on INEC’s verified Twitter handle on Monday stated thus; “Arising from its meeting held today, the Independent National Electoral Commission has decided that all outstanding governorship, national, and state assembly supplementary elections will take place on Saturday April 15, 2023.”
The confirmation came from Mr Rotimi Lawrence Oyekanmi, Chief Press Secretary to INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, who further stated that; “A detailed official statement will follow shortly.”
Arising from some noticeable flaws, the Electoral umpire had put on hold results from the February 25 presidential and National Assembly elections as well as the March 18 governorship and states assembly elections, citing issues of cancellation and inconclusive elections across the country.
