The Police Command in Katsina State, has confirmed the killing of five of its officers and three civilians in Kankara Local Government Area of the State.
The Command spokesman, SP Gambo Isah, who announced the unfortunate incident, said that the terrorists numbering over 300 on motorcycles, armed with AK-47 rifles and other weapons carried out the attack at Gatikawa village of Kankara at about 6:30pm on Wednesday.
SP Isah, who announced this in a statement on Thursday, said that in all, eight persons were killed, adding that the terrorists that operated for more than an hour, moved from house to house, looted food items, money and other valuables.
The Police further said that several villagers sustained injuries during the deadly attacks by the terrorists, adding that some of the injured persons some have been hospitalized and presently receiving treatment.
Isah said that the five policemen killed on Special duty to the area from the Kano State command.
In the words of SP Isah; “The terrorists numbering over 300 were fully armed. The five policemen are from Kano on special duty to Gatikawa.
“The terrorists attacked them at 6:45pm. The terrorists also killed three civilians. Investigation is ongoing,” he said.
