‘Insurgents’ Kill Army Lieutenant, Injure Others In Borno


The Nigerian Military is yet to confirm reports that an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) killed an Army Lieutenant while injuring four other soldiers at Magza, a community border located along the Damaturu-Biu Road in Borno State last Friday

But reliable sources in the Army hinted that only the officer was killed in the ambush, explaining that the other four soldiers, who sustained injuries are currently receiving medical treatment at an undisclosed health facility in Damaturu, the State capital.

According to the sources, the affected soldiers are personnel, troops of 135 Special Forces Battalion Buratai in Borno, who were on patrol to Damaturu, the Yobe State capital when they were ambushed by the suspected insurgents.

Another source hinted that a swift reinforcement from the 135 Special Forces Battalion Buratai and the headquarters of the 27 Task Force Brigade in Buni Yadi troops successfully repelled the attack and recovered one AK-47 rifle with magazines containing various ammunition from the attackers.

An official statement on the attack was still being expected from the Military as of the time of filing this report, and when contacted, the Spokesperson for the Sector 2 Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai, Damaturu, Captain Muhammad Shehu, promised to get back to reporters on the unfortunate attack o our reporter after getting details of the attack.
