Isiguzo-led NUJ Leadership Sets Up Constitution Review Committee

As part of his campaign promises, the National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Chris Isiguzo on Monday announced the setting up of a nine-member committee to carry out a comprehensive review of the Union’s constitution.

Membership of the Committee as drawn up by the National Secretariat of the Union has its National Treasurer, Mr Dele Atunbi Esq. as Chairman while the Chairman of the Kogi State Council of the Union, Mr. Adeiza Momoh-Jimoh will serve as the Secretary of the Constitution Review Committee.

Other members include; Abba Murtala, Gbenga Onayiga, Helen Udofa, Roland Osakue, Iduma O. Iduma Esq, Salamatu Umar Abdullahi​ and Umar Saidu.

A statement by the National Secretary of the NUJ, Mr Shuaibu Usman Leman listed the terms of reference of the committee to include; “To study carefully the present constitution to ascertain areas/sections that require amendment.

“Request and collate submissions from state councils/stakeholders on areas/sections for amendment.

“Compile a comprehensive proposal for amendment

“Submit a clean draft of the proposal to the National Secretariat.”

The NUJ national leadership said that the draft copy of the proposed amendment will be used as working document at the Constitution Review Conference.

The Committee has three months within which to submit its report.
