…Set to launch attacks in FCT
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), FCT Command, has dispatched a warning security alert to the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), over a declaration of war on Christians in Nigeria by the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP).
The NSCDC’s letter addressed to the Permanent Secretary FCTA, dated July 8, 2022, which was titled; “Renewed Threat of Attack by ISWAP Terrorists on Targets Within the FCT”, stated that certified intelligence revealed that members of ISWAP have concluded plans to launch more coordinated and spontaneous attacks on selected targets within the FCT.
The Corps further said that the objective of the ISWAP group is to hibernate in strategic places and plan further attacks on already determined targets.
ISWAP had on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, attacked the Kuje Custodial Center during which over 800 inmates including 64 members of Boko Haram escaped from the prison.
The terrorists group which claimed responsibility for the attack on the Kuje Correctional Center, announced in a video recording that its members would attack more Centres and other facilities.
