- Again, OAGF blames delay on technical glitch
BY COBHAM NSA – The Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF) has confirmed that Federal Government treasury-funded workers have started receiving their salaries for February 2026.
According to the OAGF, the payment process commenced on Monday, 2nd March 2026, explaining that the delay in paying the salaries was due to a technical glitch.
A statement signed by Bawa Mokwa, Director of Press and Public Relations, OAGF, said the technical glitch has been tackled with necessary measures already put in place to prevent a recurrence.
Similarly, the OAGF confirmed receiving approval and also concluding the process of paying one month wage award arrears out of the three months outstanding.
The Federal Government had introduced the N35,000 monthly wage award on 1st October 2023 as part of its provisional palliative measures to assist workers cope with the rising cost of living following the removal of fuel subsidy and the attendant economic hardship.
The Labour Movement agreed to the temporary arrangement with the President Bola Tinubu-led administration as negotiations for a new minimum wage were ongoing.
The award was intended to last for six months but due to repeated delays, the government began paying accumulated arrears in installments, with available records showing that significant disbursements were made around May 2025.
