Jaiz Bank Gets New Executive Director/Chief Financial Officer
BY COBHAM NSA – The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has approved the appointment of Mr. Ahmed Alhaji Hassan as an Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer of Jaiz Bank Plc.
According to Jaiz Bank’s Board of Directors, Hassan was appointed based on his wealth of experience as part of measures to strengthen the institution’s management for effective service delivery to customers and shareholders.
Ahmed Alhaji Hassan is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, and an Associate of the Pension Institute of Nigeria (PIN), as well as an Alumnus of Bayero University, Kano and the University of Lagos.
Also a fellow of the Compliance Institute, Nigeria (FCIN) and a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), the new Executive Director comes with over twenty-six (26) years cognate experience, starting from his career as a Lecturer of Accounting and Finance at Bayero University, Kano before he joined the nation’s Banking and Finance Industry.
Over the years, Hassan’s career path has seen him working with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC); defunct New Africa Merchant Bank Limited; NAL Merchant Bank (now Sterling Bank); NUB/FINBANK (now FCMB); and had a brief stint with Dangote Group as the Financial Controller of Kano Flour Mills.
Similarly, his banking experience covers Corporate Finance, Banking Operations, Risk Management, Financial Controls, and Branch/Regional Banking.
Ahmed, who has attended several local and foreign courses and workshops, joined Jaiz Bank Plc in October 2013 as Head Financial Control and acting Chief Financial Officer before becoming the Bank’s Chief Compliance Officer (CCO).
