JAMB Result Crisis: 19-Year-old Candidate Commits Suicide In Lagos
Following the results of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) released by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), one of the candidates that sat for the examination, has committed suicide in Lagos.
19-yearl old Opesusi Faith Timilehin, who scored 190 marks, was believed to had been so unhappy with the result JAMB posted as her score which was lower than her last year’s score.
As a result, the 19-year-old reportedly resolved to end it all as she consumed a substance allegedly believed to be ‘Push Out’ rat poison as she could no longer withstand the disdain with which she was been accorded as a result of the 190 marks she was awarded by JAMB in the just concluded and released result.
It was gathered that Timilehin, who was living with her senior sister in the Ikorodu Area of Lagos State before the unfortunate incident, sat for the same examination in 2024 which clearly indicated that her last result was far better than that of this year.
It was further gathered that the deceased, who later went to the sister’s office after consuming the poison, requested for palm oil to ease the pain she was experiencing, but was not accorded the needed attention as no one knew the severity of her condition.
However, as the pains increased, her elder sister who did not initially know the actual cause of the pain, raised an alarm after Temilehin opened up to her that she took poison at home.
The shocking and most unfortunate part of the incident was the revelation that her admission message to a tertiary institution was sent to her via her Gmail a day after she was confirmed dead at Kolak Hospital, Odugunyan.
