Julius Abure Re-elected National Chairman of Labour Party

Mr Julius Abure on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 got elected as National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), for a second term through a unanimous affirmation of delegates.

Abure’s election held in spite of staunch opposition by the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC).

The Chairman of the National Convention, who is the Deputy Governor of Abia State, Ikechukwu Emetu, declared Julius Abure as having emerged the winner at the party’s national convention that took place in Nnewi, Anambra State.

Abure who has been having a running battle with the National leadership of the NLC led by comrade Joe Ajaero pulled the strings off the labour leaders feets.

The NLC had called for Abure’s resignation as National Chairman of the Labour Party and insisted on the setting up of Caretaker transition committee to organise a legitimate and all-inclusive national convention for the party.
