Justice Bulkachuwa Hits At Husband, Says, I Never Compromised My Oath Of Office

Former President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa (rtd), has declared that at no time whatsoever did she ever compromised her oath of office to favour any party who appeared before her throughout her judicial career spanning 40 years of service to the country.

Justice Bulkachuwa, who stated this on Saturday in a statement while responding to her husband, Senator Adamu Bulkachuwa’s comment to the effect that she assisted to influence cases in favour of some senators while serving as President of the Court of Appeal, said that her decisions were based on the facts, the law and in accordance with her conscience and oath of office.

In her words; “Also, as President of the Court of Appeal, my fellow justices of the court can attest to the fact that I never interfered with the independence of any of the justices of the court in the discharge of their judicial functions”.

Senator Bulkachuwa, who represented Bauchi North Senatorial District, said during the valedictory session of the 9th Senate on June 10, 2023 that he usually talked with his wife while she served at the President of the Court of Appeal to assist senators with their legal cases.

However, Justice Bulkachuwa countered her husband saying; “My attention has been drawn to the trending video of what was said by my husband, Senator Adamu M. Bulkachuwa.

“I want to state categorically that I never at any time compromised my oath of office to favour any party who appeared before me throughout my judicial career spanning 40 years of service to my country.

“My decisions were always based on the facts, the law and in accordance with my conscience and oath of office,” she said.
