Kaduna: Man Pleads Guilty In Court For Taking Soil Samples For Diabolic Purposes

The Police in Kaduna on Wednesday arraigned a suspect, one Bala Mohammed before an Upper Customary Court, Kakuri for impersonation and offences relating to witch craft under Sections 142 and 185 of Kaduna State Penal Code Law 2017.
The accused pleaded guilty to the charges leveled against him having accepted that on August 16, 2020, he boarded a new tricycle to Sabon Tasha GRA community and fetched soil in a nylon bag.
However, being a strange face in the community, a community leader, Mr. Jonah accosted him and wanted to know the motive of his action but his explanation was difficult to believe and accept.
Accordingly, the community leader took Mohammed to the Sabon Tasha Police Station and lodge a complaint and during investigation, Mohammed allegedly said that he is a staff of the Kaduna State Ministry of Environment and wanted the soil as sample for the ministry to know the soil texture to enable it carry out road construction in the GRA community.
But, investigation later revealed that Mohammed impersonated being a staff of the Kaduna State Ministry of Environment and confessed to taking the soil sample for diabolic purposes and charms.
Upon the completion of investigation, the police arraigned him before an Upper Customary Court, Kakuri for impersonation and offences relating to witch craft under Sections 142 and 185 of Kaduna State Penal Code Law 2017.
The accused pleaded guilty to all the offences.
However, the trial Judge, Dorcas S. Atung while granting the accuse bail, adjourned the case to September 15, 2020 for hearing.
