It is indeed not the best of times for families of four persons killed in the Kaduna Mosque attack that claimed about seven lives on Friday night.

Family sources lamented that four of the victims, who lost their lives in the bandits’ onslaught, left behind over 61 orphans and widows.

On Friday, September 1, 2023, the bandits, driving on motorcycles, attacked worshipers who were praying in the Mosque, killing seven persons and injuring many others before fleeing the community.

Reports indicated that a farmer and businessman named Ya’u Ibrahim, who had 20 children and two wives, was among those killed during the dastardly raid by the criminal elements.

Among those killed in the attack was the Joint Task Force (JTF) Commander, Malam Isiaka, believed to be the main target of the bandits. The late Isiaka left behind 17 children and three wives.

The reports further confirmed that another victim, Yunusa Nuhu, left behind 14 children and two wives, while Malam Adamu of Gidan Maidara left behind 10 children.

A community leader, Malam Dan Asabe Saya-saya, who described the incident as very worrisome, also stated that Mustapha Sale, a 25-year-old man, was the only person without a wife among the victims.

According to him; “As you know, all the five persons killed inside the mosque are from this village, but the remaining four were killed in nearby villages. However, four of those killed in our village left 61 orphans and widows.

“The only person without a family was the groom-to-be, and his family had already made introductions for the marriage, just waiting for a wedding date before the unfortunate event took place.”

He said the families of the victims, especially women and children, were in dire need of assistance due to the loss of their breadwinners. – With Daily Trust report
