BY AMOS TAUNA, KADUNA – Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna state has enjoyed about N5.8 billion worth of contracts spread all over the area since the inception of the All Progressives Congress – led administration in the state.
A tour of the local government by newsmen revealed that the contracts covered health, education, road network construction, electrification, among others.
It was discovered that some contracts awarded have been completed and have been put to use while others are at different degrees of completion.
The projects which are said to be influence by the member representing the area in the State House of Assembly, Deacon Nuhu Goroh Shadalafiya, have enhanced the living standards of the people.
The construction of a new Government Science Secondary School, Jere is about 60 per cent completion worth about N1.8 billion.
Speaking at the site of the Science school, one of the Engineers, John Laki from Azika Company Ltd said the school construction started in November 2017 and are working toward February for its completion.
He said one the reasons for the extension of contract was as a result of insecurity, adding that workers could not continue working at the site, hence its extension to March 2019.
At the Primary Healthcare centre, Jere, that was renovated, a community healthcare worker, Mallam Maharazu Dahiru, said the center lacks sufficient workforce and therefore called on the state government to employ more hands in order to enhance effective service delivery.
He commended the present state government for coming to the rescue of the rural dwellers by accessing affordable medical facilities that was a serious challenge to them in time past.
Also, in a village called Gida Danbaba, one Luka Gida Danbaba said the electrification which is ongoing said it started since 2007 by the PDP government during Late Governor Patrick Yakowa but was stopped by the previous government.
According to him, the APC government have done their best in providing water and as well as the electrification of major villages in the local government.
He added that although only the wiring that is ongoing now and called on the state government not to relents in its effort of ensuring transformers are provided to ensure proper take off of the rural electrification.
The construction of access road from Dogonkurmi junction which is 2. 5 kilometers covers three villages as well as Kubacha Shadalafiya road thereby enhancing the movement of goods and services, as well as economic activities.
A motorist plying the new constructed road, Abubakar Saeed Kubacha, said they have suffered a lot, especially during raining season when the road becomes inaccessible.
He added that the road has brought a lot of relief to the people, stressing that it would go a long way to enhance economic activities in the area.
The member representing Kagarko local government, Nuhu Goroh Shadalafiya thanked the state government for the award of contracts in the area and enjoined the people to reciprocate government gesture by supporting government programmes by living in peace with one another.
