BY VICTOR BUORO, ABUJA – The National Executive Council (NEC) of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria rose from an emergency virtual meeting on Tuesday, declaring it is in solidarity with the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) on the strike in Kaduna and we look forward to its early amicable resolution.

The TUC in a communique issued at the end of its NEC meeting, particularly said that it is united with the NLC in arms against exploitation, oppression, victimization and all acts that enslaves the Nigerian Worker, stressing that workers are not slaves.

The TUC virtual NEC meeting which was specifically on the ongoing Workers strike in Kaduna state which was presided over by its President, Comrade Quadri A. Olaleye, stated that it is aware and monitoring the ongoing strike in Kaduna state.

The TUC clearly stressed that its leadership visit to the Kaduna State Head of Service was not designed by any means to undermine the NLC strike nor was it meant as a solidarity visit to the State government and should not be taken as such.

It further states that the visit was principally undertaken as a FACT finding Mission and to further engage the state government on the way out through social dialogue that will benefit the workers and people of Kaduna state.

The TUC therefore assured the workers and members of the public that labour’s unity has not been compromised in anyway.
