Kaduna Youth Assembly Decries Orchestrated Smear Campaign Against Senator Shehu Sani
BY VICTOR BUORO, ABUJA – The Kaduna Central Youth Assembly (KCYA), has said that some elements within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State have perfected plans to orchestrate and sponsor a smear campaign of calumny against Senator Shehu Sani for clinching the senatorial ticket of the party for the 2019 elections.
The Assembly in a statement jointly signed by the Coordinator and Secretary General, Comrade Nasir Mohammed and Musa Wada respectively however urged Senator Sani to remain resolute and steadfast in the battle, adding that he is not alone as the entire good people of Kaduna Central Senatorial District and the state in general are solidly behind him.
The Kaduna Central Youth Assembly described Senator Sani as a true parliamentarian, who knows his onions, adding that the APC at the national level knows his worth and pedigree, hence the decisions to allow him go for a second term.
The statement said that the Assembly gathered from intelligence that the social media would be awash with different news stories, articles and flashes attacking the person of President Muhammadu Buhari and the National Chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole attributing it to Senator Shehu Sani.
The Kaduna Youth Assembly further said; “Besides, there will also be a spurious and unfounded allegation of a bribery attempt on members of the panel that midwifed the so called Party primaries in Kaduna Senator Shehu Sani. This, as far as we are concerned is Dead on Arrival and we are made to understand that all these are attempts to sway the pendulum to the side of the losers in the battle for Kaduna Central.
“We wish to reiterate that those that took the party to court against the directive of the national party should rather than expecting good news from the national headquarters should await Sanction from the party.
“It amazes us why a person that took the party to court would now go back and participate in an illegal primary election where votes were allocated and claim victory….this is absurd, unheard of and totally unacceptable.
“We are also aware that millions of Naira was expanded on the campaign of calumny and name smearing on one individual Senator Shehu Sani, instead of utilizing it on students of the state who are owed scholarship allowances for months.
“We make bold to state that Senator Shehu Sani is a committed and loyal member of the APC and would never cast aspersion on the person of the President or the National Chairman of the Party.
“So therefore, any story, or news bulletin or articles shared on the social media or any medium whatsoever and attributed to the Senator or his media team, are nothing but fake news aimed at tarnishing his hard earned image and portraying him to be an enemy of the great party.
“We are watching and taking note of all those recruited to do this dirty hatchet job. We call on the party supporters in Kaduna State particularly those in Kaduna Central to remain calm, disregard and discountenance any negative story or news said to have emanated from the camp of Senator Shehu Sani.
“We equally call on those not comfortable with the decision of the National Headquarters to accept it in good faith and work towards the success of the party at the general polls, it is a decision made in the interest of the party and the state.
