Kajuru IDPs: Women Group Presents Materials, Harps On Peaceful Coexistence

BY AMOS TAUNA, KADUNA – The Ladies of St. Mulumba has appealed to residents of Kaduna state to eschew all forms of bitterness, hatred and imbibe the spirit of peaceful coexistence for the overall development of the state.

President of the group, Lady Esther David Ambason, made the appeal while presenting materials to the Internal Displaced Persons (IDPs), in Kasuwan Magani, Kajuru Local Government Area of the state.

Lady Ambason enjoined the IDPs to imbibe the spirit of forgiveness as the only panacea to forget the ugly incidents of killings and destruction that took place in the area that as they return to their communities.

She also urged the leaders and all the DIPs to see themselves as brothers and sisters, stressing that with such spirit of love, it will extend to others when they eventually return to the larger community.

Lady Ambason challenged the leadership to ensure that every of the materials received are distributed to the IDPs in order to carry everyone along with regards to the welfare of the victims.

Speaking on why the group is donating the relief materials to the victims, she said it is one of the core values of the group to take care for human beings especially victims of the crisis adding that the Kajuru IDPs are really going through tough times after losing their loved ones and property.

According to her; “As women, we are in this selfless service to sustain humanity because we are mothers. We feel and share in your sufferings and to us, the only way to express our concern is through these materials we have brought to you to cushion your present predicament.

“We are calling on everyone, irrespective of belief, political difference or tribe to be their brother’s keepers in all spheres of life. It is by so doing that we will say we know whom we are serving since every living creature believe in a supreme being.

“We encouraged you all to go back to your communities and live peacefully with one another. When scripture asked us to be peaceful, it teaches us to forgive, forget and live in peace with one another for a better society to ourselves and those unborn,” she said.

In his remarks, the Chairman of Kajuru Relief Materials committee, Mr. John Sokoto said many of the IDPs have returned to their communities to avoid a situation where their lands will be taken over by their attackers even though their ruins houses are yet to be rebuilt.

He added that with support from well-meaning Nigerians, who provided building materials, many people in the camp have been able to put structure that will temporarily accommodate them.

According to Sokoto; “Some left their wives here in Mararaban because they cannot live together with their wives and children in one room.

“Government gave us 400 bundles of zink and 1600 bags of cement and looking at the number of the displaced persons, it is grossly inadequate hence we are looking unto charitable organizations and individuals to help the victims put on their structures.

“We need additional building materials to properly put ourselves together. We need zinc, cement, nails, planks, among others,” he said.

In her own remark the Chairman, organising committee, Lady Rose J. said, the relief materials were sought after taking assessment of the people who are predominantly farmers.

Items delivered include 52 bags of fertilizer, 11 bundles of roofing zinc and five packs of roofing nails.
