The Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal on Thursday set aside the judgment of a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) which invalidated the Governor Umaru Ganduje’s faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ward and Local Government Congresses in Kano State.

The Appeal Court ruled that the FCT High Court lacked jurisdiction to entertain the case.

The Appeal Court further ruled that the case was not a pre-election matter but an internal matter of the APC and therefore should be decided by the leadership of the party.

The Senator Ibrahim Shekarau’s faction had filed a case at the FCT High Court after the Congresses of the APC in Kano State following which the court upheld his faction’s congresses as against that of Governor Ganduje’s faction.

However, displeased with the FCT High Court ruling, the Ganduje’s faction appealed the judgment at the Appeal Court contesting the lower Court’s ruling.
