Kano: Gov. Yusuf Extends Services Of HoS, Perm. Secs, Others

BY SALISU IBRAHIM FAGGE, KANO – Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has granted an extension of two years in service to the Head of Civil Service (HoS), Abdullahi Musa, Permanent Secretaries and other Senior Civil Servants that are due for retirement.

The approval which was contained in an Executive Order signed by the Governor in accordance with the Doctrine of necessity took effect from 31st December 2024.

Those affected by the order were due for retirement after serving the state for the mandatory period as stipulated in the civil service rules.

A statement on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, by Aliyu Yusuf, Director, Public Enlightenment in the office of the Head of Civil Service, Kano state, said the decision of the governor is backed by the provision therein in Section 5(2) and 208 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended).

According to Yusuf; “Those to enjoy the 2 years extension are Alhaji Abdullahi Musa as the Head of Civil Service, Umar Muhammad Jalo, Bilkisu Shehu Maimota, Mu’azatu Isa Dutse, Abdulmuminu Musa, and Tijjani Muhammad Sharif as Permanent Secretaries.

Others included Bashir Idris Diso as the Clerk to the State House of Assembly,” the statement added.

The civil servants affected by the extension by virtue of the Civil Service Rules and Kano state Pension Trustees Fund Law are due for retirement by 31st December 2024, however, the governor’s directive has given special attention to the beneficiaries so as to fill the gap their exit will create.

The statement said that those whose service years were extended have exhibited high level of competence, excellence and good sense of responsibility while executing their official functions in accordance with the Civil Service Rules.

According to the statement; “The exit of such personnel will no doubt create a great vacuum in the state service, hence the need for their retention to facilitate effective and efficient service delivery in the state”.

The Governor has also granted same extension to some Senior Civil Servants comprising of Comrade Kabiru Ado Minjibir, Comrade Marwan Mustapha, Comrade Tajuddeen Bashir Baba, Comrade Hashim A. Sule and Comrade Kabiru Inuwa.

Others are Amina Idris – Psychiatric Nurse, Ahmad Lawan – Peri-Operative Nurse, Hussaini Nuhu – Paediatric Nurse, Salisu H. Nadosun – Peri-Operative Nurse and Larai Ahmadu a Critical Nurse Care, all from the Critical Health Sector.

The beneficiaries were directed to continue to exercise the function of their respective offices in accordance with the Civil Service Rules.
