Kano Govt Lauds DSS For Rescuing Abducted Kibiya LGA Secretary

The Kano State government has applauded the Department of State Services (DSS) for safely rescuing the Administrative Secretary of Kibiya Local Government Area of the state, Alhaji Hamza Durya that was abducted by kidnappers.

Durya was reportedly kidnapped at his residence in Kibiya, a few days ago by gunmen who later demanded a ransom of N100 million.

A statement by the Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, described Durya’s rescue by the DSS as a significant breakthrough in a what it described as a “swift and coordinated operation”.

According to Waiya; “The Kano State Government wishes to inform the general public of a significant breakthrough in the recent abduction of the Administrative Secretary of Kibiya Local Government Council Area, Alhaji Hamza Durya.

“The victim was abducted at his residence in Durya village, Kibiya Local Government Area. Following the unfortunate incident, security agencies in the State were immediately mobilised to ensure his safe rescue and to apprehend those responsible.

“In a swift and coordinated operation, operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), Kano State Command, successfully rescued the victim and arrested two suspected kidnappers who sustained bullet wounds during the operation.

“The Government considers this as a welcome development and a testament to the dedication and professionalism of the security agencies operating in the State

“The Kano Statement Government commends the DSS and other security agencies for their prompt response and unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the State.

“This achievement underscores the effectiveness of the ongoing security strategies being deployed to combat criminal activities across the 44 Local Government Areas

“While the Kano State Government is reassuring residents of its firm commitment to maintaining peace and security, it urges members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities in their communities to the nearest security outfits.

“Such cooperation is vital in strengthening the overall security architecture of the State. The Kano State Government will continue to work closely with all relevant stakeholders to ensure that Kano remains safe and secure for all,” Waiya stated.
