With the Supreme Court reserving judgment in the Kano State governorship election appeal, members of the ruling New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Kano State are observing special fasting and prayers sessions for their expected victory at the nation’s apex Court.

Reports had emerged that concerned members of the party on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, called on all their supporters and well wishers to embark on fasting today (Thursday) ahead of the Supreme Court sitting.

According to reports by Daily Trust, there was strict compliance to the instruction by the majority of the NNPP’s members as the apex Court justices sat in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Director General, Media and Communications of the Party, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, who confirmed the development, said; “Yes, many of our supporters are fasting today.”

It was further observed that the calls for intense prayers over the social media have continued minutes after the Supreme Court had listened to all the parties involved in the appeal.

Meanwhile, a trip around major streets in the Kano metropolis showed people going about their normal business and activities with everywhere being so calm and peaceful.

Similarly, there was visible presence of heavy security as heads of the joint security committee were seen patrolling nooks and crannies of the metropolis to ensure there is no threat to peace in the State capital and its environs.

Earlier in the day, a five-member panel of the apex Court’s justices, led by Justice Inyang Okoro, reserved the judgment on the appeal after listening to all the counsels in the matter.
