Determined to keep the peace and ensure smooth conduct of the Saturday, March 23 supplementary election in Kano, the State Police Command says there will be restriction on the movement of vehicles, tricycles and all forms of transportation across the 44 local government areas during  the exercise.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Abdullahi Haruna said no vehicle, motorcycle or tricycle would be allowed on the roads between 06:00hrs and 18:00hrs during the election period.

Haruna said the measure is to ensure free and fair re-run election in the State, even as he said eligible voters will not be prevented from walking to their respective polling units to exercise their civic responsibility.

Following the Returning Officer’s declaration of the March 9 gubernatorial polls as inconclusive in the State, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) fixed March 23 for supplementary election to determine the winner between incumbent Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and his main challenger, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s Abba Kabir Yusuf, who is former Governor Rabiu Kwankwanso’s son-in-law.
