Key Into The 8-point Agenda – Information Minister Tells NIPR
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris has called on the newly elected officials of Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) to key into the eight-point agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and join in the effort to improve the country’s image globally.
This is as the Minister also promised to inaugurate the board very soon to commence the smooth and effective implementation of its planned activities.
Idris, who spoke on Thursday, October 12, 2023, when he received in audience members of the NIPR board in his office, assured that his ministry is willing to partner with all well-meaning institutions and stakeholders in repositioning the country and reorienting Nigerians.
The Minister, who is also a fellow of the Institute said that the ministry will engage the NIPR in this regard, adding that he supported the plan of the board to pursue the promotion of sectoral specialization amongst members as a way of further enhancing professionalism and building a robust institution.
He further said; “The NIPR has been operating as a unifocal profession, and I think that has created a problem. We need to decentralize our profession”.
Earlier, the President and Chairman of the Governing Council of NIPR, Dr Ike Neliaku, said the Council members were on a the visit to inform the minister of its planned programmes and activities as well as to express their readiness to collaborate with the ministry in the task of nation building.
Neliaku said the NIPR is proposing to run a national campaign for the rebirth of Nigeria which would focus on three key areas.
He listed the areas are Citizen education and value reorientation; a return to made-in-Nigeria goods; and service delivery excellence.
