Kidnapped Lecturers Of University Of Abuja Released

BY TEMI OHAKWE, ABUJA – The kidnapped lecturers of the University of Abuja and some members of their family have regained freedom from their abductors.

They were released in the early hours of Friday, November 5, 2021.

The Chairman, Academic Staff Union of Universities, University of Abuja Chapter, comrade Kassim Umar confirmed this to Journalists in Abuja about 8:00am on Friday

Kassim did not however say if the University paid any ransom for the release of the kidnapped staff and their family members but pointedly said that the freed lecturers are on their way home returning to their families in the University campus.

Suspected dare devil bandits in the early hours of Tuesday invaded the University of Abuja Staff Quarters situated in Giri and kidnapped four lecturers and some of their children.

The bandits who stormed the University Staff Quarters in Giri, held lecturers hostage.

The kidnappers had demanded payment of N300million as ransom to secure the release of the abducted lecturers.
