Kidnappers Hijack Two Abuja-bound Buses In Kogi, Abduct Passengers

Two buses belonging to GOD IS GOOD (GIG) Transport and Logistics Company and ABC Transport, fully loaded with passengers travelling from the South East geo-political zone to Abuja, were on Saturday, February 3, 2024 hijacked by kidnappers who abducted all the occupants.
The unfortunate incident took place at Inele-Eteke Ogugu New road in Kogi East Senatorial district where the two buses were seen abandoned.
A source close to GIG Company told Forefront online News that the GIG bus was believed to have departed Umuahia, the Abia State capital at about 7:30am on Saturday and headed to Abuja, adding however that the company has made contact with the relevant security agencies on the need for rescue after successfully tracking the kidnappers.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Police Command in Kogi State, has confirmed the Saturday kidnap of passengers aboard two Abuja-bound buses at Inele-Eteke Ogugu new road in the Kogi East senatorial district.
The Police Public Relations Officer for the Kogi Command, SP Williams Aya, who confirmed the development in a statement on Monday, said the Commissioner of Police, CP Bertrand Onuoha, has directed the Divisional Police Officer, local vigilantes and hunters to comb the bushes with a view to apprehending the bandits and rescuing the victims.
The police spokesperson who did not give the number of passengers that were kidnapped, however, said that two buses were involved,
According to Onuoha; “The Commissioner of Police has also deployed the Tactical Squad consisting of Quick Response Unit, Police Mobile Force, Counter-Terrorism Unit, as well as conventional police personnel to the area to continue with the bush combing to ensure that all victims are rescued unhurt”.
