Barely 24hours after they were kidnapped at gun point by bandits, 33 of the victims in Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State, have been rescued by the Joint Taskforce of security operatives operating in the area.
The victims were kidnapped by armed gunmen on their way back from the market and taken into the forest awaiting payment of ransom from their families.
However, on the directive of the State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, who hails from the area, the Joint Security Taskforce engaged the bandits and secured the release of all the 33 kidnapped victims hale and hearty.


Caretaker Chairman of Alkaleri Local Government Area, Mr. Bala Ibrahim Mahmoud received the 33 victims from the security operatives in Yalwan Duguri of Alkaleri Local Government.
The victims were handed over to the Caretaker Chairman on Friday by the Joint Security Taskforce that led to their release.
While receiving the victims, Mahmoud applauded the security agencies overn the quick response to the situation which eventually led to the release of the victims from captivity.
He advised the 33 released victims to undergo medical check-up to ascertain their health status before any further actions.
Alkaleri Local Government Area is one of the three Council Areas in Bauchi state where bandits are having a field day by kidnapping people at will and receiving huge amount of money as ransom from the victims’ families.
Governor Mohammed had some few days ago, told traditional rulers that the state was overwhelmed by acts of banditry and other forms of criminalities.
