Kogi: Masked Armed Men Attack Makinde’s Hotel In Lokoja

BY SAMUEL ADEBAYO, ABUJA – Ahead of the scheduled Saturday Governorship election in Kogi State, reports from Lokoja, the Kogi State capital indicate that some armed and masked men, who appeared in police uniforms, on Friday, attacked the hotel where the Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo is lodged.

Governor Makinde is the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP’s) Kogi State Campaign Council and he is currently in the state in his capacity as the Chairman of the Council.
Eyewitnesses confirmed that the hooded armed men  arrived the Suitorial Hotels, Lokoja, located  along Stadium Road, Lokoja, where the Governor and some members of the PDP Campaign Council were lodged at about 12.50 pm, on Friday, shooting sporadically and attempting to break into the hotel rooms. 

Forefront News gathered that some of the hooded armed men succeeded in scaling the fence of the Hotel and attempted to gain entrance to the rooms.

However, a melee was set off as the security operatives attached to Governor Makinde put up a resistance that forced the invading hooded armed men to beat a retreat.

It was also gathered that within a short while, some residents of the area also mobilized to resist the invading gunmen that eventually fled.
