BY MARY HARUNA, LOKOJA – The Wife of the Governor of Kogi State, Hajiya Sefinat Ododo has decried the involvement of teenagers in social vices in the society.

Hajiya Ododo, who stated this as part of the 16 days of activism and awareness campaign on the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Girls in Okene, expressed concern over the level of moral decadence in the social media space.

The Kogi State First Lady therefore advised youths particularly young women to focus on making positive choices at all times and desist from acts that portray womanhood in bad light.

Hajiya Ododo also said that it was imperative for the youth to acquire entrepreneurial skills in relevant vocations to become self reliant and build a sustainable future.

While appealing to parents to go the extra mile in moulding their children to become responsible adults, Hajiya Ododo charged them to take advantage of the free education of the present administration in the State to enroll their wards in schools.

Speaking at the occasion, the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, Alhaji Ahmed Tijani Anaje, emphasized the importance of discipline in the family, thus, implored parents particularly fathers not to abandon their duties as head of the family.

In her own remarks, Maryam Abedo, who is the Director General of the Kogi State Pension Commission, advised women to discourage any form of molestation before and after marriage and always speak out and report such cases to the appropriate authority.

Abedo also called on parents to pay attention to their children, get close to them so that they can always confide in them when there are issues.
