…Operatives Kill 2 kidnappers, scores fatally injured
Kwara State Govt on Thursday, July 16, 2026 announced the rescue of two children by operatives of the Department of State Services and forest guards.
The rescue in Kwara State is coming few days after the intelligence-led rescue of Oriire, Oyo State pupils and teachers kidnapped by bandits.
The children who were rescued in a forest between Oba Isin/Owa Onire in Isin and Ifelodun Local Government Areas of the state, were 16-year-old Fatima Azeez and her five-year-old brother, Ibrahim.
A source close to the state government said the DSS led security team eliminated two of the armed bandits while others escaped with severe injuries as more rescue operations were reportedly ongoing.
Items recovered from the kidnappers included one AK-47 rifle; a single barrel gun, one fully-loaded magazine, nine empty magazines, mini-solar charger, and food items.
The Thursday’s rescue operation, Forefront News gathered is connected to the multi-agency counter-terrorism and anti-kidnapping efforts of the government.
