BY AHMED TUKUR LAFIA – High profile land syndicates that specialize in illegal deals are now perfecting ways to dupe innocent and unsuspecting Nigerians in posing as officials mandated to dispose-off the Nasarawa State agricultural show land, situated along the Keffi-Abuja highway in Karu Local Government Area of the the state.
The property which is about 22 hectares of virgin land is specifically located at Tudun Wada area of Karu, has caught the eyes and attention of the land racketeers who lure their victims easily owing to the strategic location of the property.
The property which is usually used for the national agricultural trade fair show during which State governments and commercial farmers from across the country converge to showcase their products is strategically located and can accommodate any type of business and residential accommodation.
Investigation by Forefront News indicates that the syndicate usually visit in big Jeeps with prospective buyers who go to inspect the property.
A dependable source told our correspondent that the unsuspecting prospective buyers are made to believe that the syndicates are officials of the state government.
Explaining the situation, an official of the State Ministry of Land, who doesn’t want his name in print since he was not officially assigned to speak on it, said he is not aware of any plan by the government to dispose of the land.
This is just as some of the people living around the area, told Forefront News that said owners of landed property around the area have equally suffered the same fate with the criminal syndicate until they came up with strategies that put a stop and disallowed the syndicates from visiting the area.
It was gathered that most of the syndicates are only out to dupe their victims who after showing interest in the land are given exorbitant rates that scare away innocent prospective buyers after paying agent fees to the members of the syndicates.
