BY AHMED TUKUR, LAFIA – The caretaker Committee President of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Comrade Nankpak Njomiri has said that autonomy for the third tier of government will guarantee development at the grassroots.
Njorimi, who stated this while addressing members of the union during the inauguration of the Nasarawa state caretaker committee at the state secretariat of NULGE in Lafia, said that the union will dialogue with government to ensure the implementation of the autonomy.
He explained that the caretaker committee will ensure that members are fully taken care of as well as ensure that their welfare is well addressed by both government and the union, adding that the union will always be vanguard of good governance.
According to him; “NULGE will continue to uphold the constitution of Nigeria and ensure that our members discharge their duties as at when due.”
The NULGE national president urge members to always key into government policies and create enabling environment that will foster unity amongst them.
In his acceptance speech, the state care taker chairman, Comrade Haladu Ibrahim Agah promised to carry members along and always dialogue with government on the way forward for the local government administration in the state and country at large.
He said; “We shall carry all financial members along and be open to constructive opinions on how best to carry out constitutional responsibilities to conduct a free, fair and credible elections at both local and state branches”.
Highlight of the event was the inauguration of both the Nasarawa state and Local Government caretaker of the union.
