London-Based ICC Appoints NCC’s Maida As Director
London-based International Institute of Communications (ICC), has announced the appointment of the Executive Vice-Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (EVC/CEO) of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Dr. Aminu Maida, as a director on its board.
The ICC in a statement said Dr Maida “plays a pivotal role in shaping Nigeria’s telecommunications landscape, adding that under his leadership, the NCC has continue to advance connectivity, foster innovation, and promote a competitive and inclusive telecommunications industry.
Prior to his latest appointment, the NCC boss has been a key player in improving telecommunications sector with the introduction of far-reaching initiatives.
These include a focus on the “consumer-centric telecoms industry” that emphasises the need for service providers to boost consumers’ Quality of Experience (QoE), and ensure fairness and transparency in service tariffs.
The initiative also embraces data consumption and billing transparency towards empowering telecoms consumers in a truly consumer-centric telecoms industry, in which consumers feel valued, informed, empowered, and satisfied with the services they receive in the Nigerian telecoms space.
Maida’s ‘consumer-centric’ leadership philosophy of the NCC for service providers’, excellent Quality of Service (QoS) delivery to consumers, the industry has witnessed an enhanced connectivity, innovation, and a more competitive, inclusive telecoms ecosystem for stakeholders in recent times.
Maida holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Bath, an M.Eng in Information Systems Engineering from Imperial College, London, in the United Kingdom (UK), and a Postgraduate Diploma in Entrepreneurship from the Cambridge Judge Business School.
