Major General Farouk Yahaya Formally Assumes Duty As COAS
Major-General Farouk Yahaya, on Friday, formally assumed duties as Nigeria’s 22nd Chief of Army Staff (COAS) at the Army headquarters, Abuja, the federal capital territory (FCT).
General Yahaya took over command of the Nigerian Army after a military ceremony at the Army Headquarters situated at Area 10, Garki-Abuja.
The new COAS paid last respects to his predecessor, the late Lt Gen Ibrahim Attahiru and later visited the home of the former COAS where he condoled with members of the immediate family.
After signing the condolence register, the new Chief of Army Staff, in typical military fashion, stood at attention and saluted the photograph of the late General Attahiru placed at the entrance of the family residence.
