Manchester United Dent Arsenal’s Perfect Start With 3-1 Victory

BY VICTOR OSOWOCHI – For the first time since April 2021, Manchester United dug deep to win four league games in a row and in the process dented Arsenal’s perfect start to the season with a 3-1 victory at Old Trafford on Sunday.

It was an excellent game in which Arsenal dominated for long periods, but United were ruthless in transition and a second-half brace from Marcus Rashford saw them amassing three excellent goals as their reward.

Premier League debutant Antony got the first and then, after Bukayo Saka’s equaliser, Marcus Rashford scored twice to settle the match and earn his side all three points

Also, it was a day that Christian Eriksen was fantastic in midfield, playing a big part in all three goals. Despite their victory, United are still miles away from challenging for the title, but four wins out of four is an admirable response to the Brentford fiasco.

However, the match was not without its fair share of drama as the Gunners faced yet another tale of Old Trafford frustration. At goalless, Gabriel Martinelli had a goal controversially disallowed by VAR, and the game looked Arsenal’s for the taking when Bukayo Saka equalised after an hour.

Unfortunately, the Gunners pushed too hard; maybe Manager Mikel Arteta also gambled too early with a triple substitution and change of shape at 2-1. They still played very well, particularly Gabriel Jesus and Granit Xhaka, and for now, they are still sitting atop the Premier League table with 15 points. – With agency reports
