Media Invite: Kanu Nwankwo, Yobo For CAF AFCON Winning Captains’ Roundtable In Abidjan Today

BY VICTOR OSOWOCHI – Nigeria’s duo of Kanu Nwankwo and Joseph Yobo have been selected to be part of an “AFCON Winning Captains’ Roundtable” slated for today, Saturday, 10 February 2024, as part of the build-up for the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Cote d’Ivoire 2023 final.

The former Super Eagles captains are expected to join other football legends on the continent at the event that will take place at the Main Media Centre (Palais de la Culture) in Abidjan, the Ivorian capital.

A statement from the CAF Communication Department said the event that will take place following the Final Matchday-1 Press conference is expected to create a unique atmosphere for the media ahead of Sunday’s final.

The list of Captains consists of: 1988 – Roger Milla (Cameroon); 1992 – Gadji Celi (Côte d’Ivoire); 1994 – Kanu Nwankwo (Nigeria); 1996 – Neil Tovey (South Africa) & Lucas Radebe (South Africa); and 1998 – Hossam Hassan (Egypt).

Others are 2004 – Riadh Bouazizi (Tunisia); 2012 – Christopher Katongo (Zambia); 2013 – Joseph Yobo (Nigeria); and 2017 – Benjamin Moukandjo (Cameroon) while Abedi Pelé (Ghana) will feature as the Special Guest
