Medical Done! Sergio Reguilon Sets To Wear Man Utd Jersey
- As Dean Henderson swaps United for Crystal Palace in £20m deal
BY VICTOR OSOWOCHI – Old Trafford Landlords, Manchester United are set to sign Tottenham’s Sergio Reguilon on a loan arrangement after the left-back passed a medical at the club on Thursday.
With first-team players, Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia out injured, United had to quickly embrace the Reguilon’s option after after dropping their interest in Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella
The Red Devils’ search for a left-back is almost over as The Athletic reports they are on the verge of confirming the loan signing of Reguilon after he passed a medical on Thursday. The deal will be a season-long with no option to sign him outright and United could end the spell in January.
United have reportedly been tracking Reguilon, who is yet to feature for Tottenham this season, for a while. They were reported to be lining up a shock loan bid for Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella earlier this week after seeing Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia ruled out through injury.
The growing injury list has put United in a desperate situation to get a left-back through the door before the window shuts, and Reguilon, who spent last season on loan at Spain’s Atletico Madrid, will be filling that spot.
Manager Erik ten Hag’s men will have their hands full facing Arsenal in a huge Premier League clash on Sunday, September 3, 2023, and with the likes of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martilleni capable of terrorising any full-back in the league.
For now, the United coach will be hoping that Reguilon becomes available for the visit to the Emirate Stadium where Mikel Arteta and his men narrowly beat them 3-2 in a thrilling encounter last season.
Meanwhile, Crystal Palace have announced the signing of goalkeeper Dean Henderson from Manchester United on Thursday.

According to the Eagles, the England international was signed on a five-year contract and though the transfer fee has not been officially made public, reports indicate that Palace will pay United £20 million (about 25 million dollars) in addition to add-ons.
After six loan moves in the previous eight seasons, the 26-year-old England international will finally find a home at Selhurst Park in London under experienced boss Roy Hodgson. Henderson ends a 12-year affiliation with Manchester United and begins a new chapter in the Premier League.
The goalkeeper, who is targeting first-team football with Palace said: “I’m absolutely delighted and buzzing to be here. I can’t wait to get started. This club has got great fans and has a lot of top players who are hungry to succeed. There’s something being built here, and I really want to be a part of it.”
With the deal now completed, Henderson could be in line for his Palace debut in their home clash with Wolves in the Premier League on Sunday.
