Meet Ola Olukoyede, New EFCC Boss

The latest news making the rounds from the Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s presidency is the appointment of Ola Olukoyede, as the new chairman of the nation’s anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

According to what the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Ajuri Ngelale, described the resignation of Mr. Abdulrasheed Bawa, the suspended Executive Chairman of EFCC, Olukoyede’s appointment, which is subject to the Senate’s confirmation, is the first ever for a Southerner since the creation of the anti-graft commission.

An indigene of Ikere-Ekiti in Ekiti State, Olukoyede is a Lawyer, who boasts over 22 years of experience as a Regulatory Compliance Consultant as well as a Specialist in fraud management and corporate intelligence.

With considerable knowledge about EFCC’s operations, the new EFCC Chairman, at different times served as Chief of Staff to the Commission’s acting Chairman, Ibrahim Magu (2016-2018), and Secretary to the Commission (2018-2023) during the immediate past administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Born on 14th October 1969, he had his university education at Lagos State University; University of Lagos; Institute of Arbitration ICC – Paris, France, and University of Harvard (Kennedy School of Executive Education).

A member of the Fraud Advisory Panel (UK), the new EFCC boss is currently a member of the Federal Government Technical Committee on the Repositioning of the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit.

Olukoyede, who also specialises in Anti-Corruption Research and Analysis, Corporate and Business Intelligence Gathering and Processes, is a Pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).
