BY AMOS DUNIA, ABUJA – The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus, on Wednesday night did an appraisal of present administration and concluded that a military regime is better than the APC-led government of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Secondus, who stated this at a dinner to welcome governors and members of the National Assembly that left the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), noted that President Buhari has foisted “a kind of military democracy” on the nation.
The PDP National Chairman while commending the defectors from the APC, said they could remain and watch the country slide into unwarranted crisis.
He said; “They cannot watch the country sliding into crisis as we have found ourselves today – killings and bloodletting unabated. This is a government of denials, government of frame-ups, government of intimidation and harassments, government that believe in the fist of arms. If you tell them the honest truth, they will say it is fake news.
Secondus noted that institutions that are supposed to maintain law and order have turned to agents of harassment, intimidation and molestations like what we witnessed in the case of Ekiti and Benue. Law enforcement agents are now the same people who are breaking this law and order. No rule of law as court orders are not obeyed. We are getting deeper and deeper into crisis.
“I thought that one of the critical elements of democracy is lobbying while persuasion is the greatest weapon of a democrat or a politician. We have seen in the past few years that the APC-led government has foisted on this nation a kind of military democracy that cannot be described. It is better for us to have full blown military because there is no longer freedom in the country,” the PDP Chairman stressed.
