President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, on Sunday said he never exonerated the former Minister of Petroleum, Mrs Diezani Allison-Madueke, over the $49 billion non-remittances to the Federation Account, according to his aide on New Media, Bamikole Omishore, in a statement.
Omishore said the Senate President, even as a senator in the 7th Assembly and member of the Senate Committee on Finance refused to sign the report that exonerated the then minister of Petroleum.
“In 2014, Senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki was a member of the 7th Senate’s Committee on Finance that investigated the alleged unmerited $49 billion to the Federation Account.
“Many attacked him for refusing to sign the report of the committee that exonerated the then-powerful Minister of Petroleum, Allison Diezani Madueke.
“Today, Saraki who is now the President of the Senate has been vindicated.
“Be that as it may, Sahara Reporters and its paymasters want to keep shifting, moving and relocating the goalpost to wherever they deem fit simply to satisfy their own nefarious narratives,” the aide said.
