Against the backdrop of resolving a bureaucratic delay spanning about eight years in just 30 days, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike has praised the Dunamis International Gospel Centre (DIGC) for building a pedestrian bridge along Abuja’s critical highway, the bustling Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport Road

Speaking while commissioning the newly constructed pedestrian bridge outside the church’s 100,000-capacity Glory Dome headquarters, e bustling Airport Road, on Friday, Wike hailed the project as a textbook example of impactful Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

According to the Minister, the infrastructure breakthrough came after a massive administrative bottleneck was untangled, revealing that while the church applied for approval to construct the facility in 2018, the application sat buried in official channels and was only brought to his attention in February 2026.

Consequently, he granted final approval within a single month, paving the way for the major private-public collaboration to become a reality.

The Minister described the approval as evidence of President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to good governance, urging members of the Church to support government with proven capacity to respond to the needs of the people.

“Government cannot do everything alone; there is nowhere in the world where government carries every burden. That is why we emphasise comprehensive social responsibility”, the former Rivers State governor said.

As part of move to further encourage community-driven infrastructure, the Minister announced that the FCT Administration (FCTA) would defray 50 per cent of the total cost the church incurred in constructing the bridge, even as he lauded the Senior Pastor of Dunamis, Paul Enenche, and his wife, Becky Enenche, for demonstrating leadership and sacrificing church resources to save lives and enhance human welfare rather than focusing solely on soul-winning.

However, the Minister condemned the habitual refusal of many pedestrians to use constructed bridges, choosing instead to risk their lives crossing high-speed expressways.

He cautioned against constant public criticism of government actions on social media when enforcement measures were deployed to maintain public order and safety.

In his remarks earlier, Pastor Paul Enenche, the Senior Pastor of DIGC, said the decision to construct the pedestrian bridge was borne out of concern over the frequent fatal accidents recorded along the Airport Road axis, explaining that “the Church plans to add modern aesthetic coverings, security lighting and transparent side-panels to the structure to protect users from weather elements and boost compliance.”

The respected Clergy urged public-spirited individuals and leaders to live for societal impact and keep eternity in view, stressing that resources must be deployed for the collective good of humanity.

Also speaking at the occasion, the Senator representing the FCT, Mrs Ireti Kingibe, praised the Church for backing its faith with compassionate action for the people

She described the ministry as “a beacon of light” while urging residents and leaders across the territory to unite in building a safer, and more peaceful capital city. – With NAN reports
