More Reasons Crystal Palace, Patrick Vieira Parted Ways

It is now out in the public space that their unending poor form is not the only reason Patrick Vieira was sent packing by Premiership club, Crystal Palace as its manager.

Reports indicated that Palace decided to part ways with the Frenchman on Friday after reluctantly agreeing his managerial position had become untenable.

According to Club insiders, though Palace’s poor run of 12 games without a win was quite unbearable, the decision to strip the former French international of the job was not an easy one to make.

The Athletic claimed that the Eagles opted to dispense with Vieira’s services because the club’s chiefs were unconvinced by the quality of his coaching staff; the players had become unsettled; and Vieira himself was frustrated by Palace’s recruitment.

Similarly, the Daily Mail reports that Palace had also found it “increasingly difficult” to communicate with Vieira and were concerned with his relaxed nature in the midst of a relegation battle.

It was gathered that when a meeting finally took place on Friday to discuss his future, the former Arsenal midfielder made it clear he felt unsupported and was angry that news of his departure had been leaked.

With the Eagles failing to win a single game so far since the turn of the year, the former Arsenal Skipper leaves the Club just three points above the drop zone and faces a tough battle to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

It is on record that the club has won just one of their eight London derby matches in the Premier League this season, drawing two (D2) and losing five (L5). Their only consolatory victory was beating West Ham 2-1 in November.

The Eagles have scored the fewest goals five (5) and have the worst goal difference of minus 10 (-10) in such games this term, while Arsenal have the fewest goals conceded four (4), and the best goal difference of plus sixteen (+16).

Meanwhile, the Club’s former boss Roy Hodgson is in talks to replace Vieira at Selhurst Park, according to Sky Sports, even as the Eagles are back in action on Sunday against Premier League leaders Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
