Muslim-Muslim Ticket: APC Stakeholders Berate Senator Uzor Kalu

…Urges Tinubu, Party to tread with caution

BY ADEYEMI AKANJI, BAUCHI – A political pressure group on the aegis of ‘Concern APC Stakeholders’ from the North-East geopolitical zone has berated former Abia State Governor, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu for promoting a Muslim-Muslim ticket for the presidency of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

It noted with concern that the management of success is turning out to be difficult as a result of the sentiments of choosing a presidential running mate that is threatening to tear the party apart.

The group represented by 20 of its members led by Mohammed Garba and Mathias Damina told journalists in Bauchi on Wednesday that Kalu is an enemy of progress for the party.

The APC stakeholders urged Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu to disregard in totality the claim by Senator Orji Uzo Kalu saying that since the APC flagbearer’s wife is a Christian Pastor, the Vice President should be a Muslim.

The group declared; “Senator Oluremi Tinubu is from the South, she cannot represent the North nor the Christian Northerners. Once Tinubu conclude for Muslim-Muslim ticket, the opposition will start singing songs of victory that should never happen during our time.

“Our prayer therefore, is that our flagbearer, Mr. President, the National Party Chairman, the APC Governors and other stakeholders should take a bold step by presenting Hon. Yakubu Dogara, who was Speaker of Nigeria’s 8th Assembly from Bauchi State, North East Nigeria.

“Dogara has all it takes to be the running mate of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for 2023 Presidential election and Nigeria and Nigerians will never regret their decision. With commitment, the Northern Christian minority can do even more than their Muslim counterparts. The minority should not be under rated,” it said.

The concerned APC Stakeholders from the North-East further said; “It will be suicidal to drag Tinubu into picking a Muslim Northerner as his running mate in this dispensation.

“In fact, those who are clamoring for Muslin-Muslin ticket are enemies of President Buhari and Tinubu, because they want the party to die in their hands by sending party members and supporters away to opposition parties”.

The group congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari, Asiwaju Tinubu, members of the party all over Nigeria and those in diaspora for the victory recorded during the APC primaries which prove many wrong.

Going down memory lane, the APC stakeholders stressed that when in 2014, Muhammadu Buhari emerged as the Presidential flag bearer of the APC, the issue of running mate from the South was amicably resolved when Tinubu named Prof Yemi Osinbajo in place of his humble self to balance the equation rather than having in place Muslin-Muslim ticket which is today responsible for peaceful coordination of the country.
