N2m Ransom Lands Suspected Kidnapper In NSCDC Net In Niger
BY ILIYASU GARBA, MINNA – The Nigeria Service Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Niger state command on Thursday paraded a suspected kidnapper identified as Mohammed Lawali, who operates in Kebbi state after demanding for N2 million ransom.
The command Public Relations Officer, AAC1 Nasir D. Abdullahi while parading the suspect at the command office in Minna, said the Corps received a distressed call from one Salisu Saidu from Suleja Emirs palace of a threat to kidnap him or pay a ransom of N2 million.
He said that the commandant George U. Edem been a proactive officer, directed the detective department to swing into action by freezing the account the suspect text to his victim as he agreed to pay N2,000,000.
The NSCDC spokesman said the suspect hails from Yauri in Kebbi state, adding that he was apprehended when he went to the bank for transaction and was there after arrested even as he tried to feign ignorance and claim innocence of the crime, saying that the suspect only admitted that his uncle will sent him money to boost his business.
Consequently, upon the arrest of Lawali, he later confessed to the crime and pleaded guilty of the offence
In an interview with the suspect, Mohammed Lawali a 25 years old who claimed to be an indigene of Sokoto state and involved in Scrap business said, “I regret my action and I want to advice anyone nursing or engages in same act to desist from it before the law will catch up with them.”
Meanwhile, the state commandant of NSCDC, Geoge Edem has warned members of the public on the ongoing fake appointment letters being issued by some criminal individuals to innocent citizens who are desperately looking for jobs.
