The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Zone C, comprising of students from the six states of the geopolitical zone and the FCT has honoured the North Central Development Commission (NCDC) with an award in recognition of its vision and robust plans for educational development, youth empowerment and entrepreneurship promotion across the North Central region.
The award which was presented at the NANS Zone C Summit held in Ilorin, Kwara State, over the weekend, followed the NCDC’s assurance of its commitment to supporting education and creating sustainable economic opportunities for young people in the region.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Commission, Dr. Cyril Yiltsen Tsenyil, who was represented at the summit by the Board Member representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Comrade Solomon Adodo, reaffirmed the NCDC’s determination to make education and youth development central to its regional development agenda.
On returm from the Summit, Comrade Adodo handed over the award to the Managing Director in his office and informed him that the students are excited to hear that the Commission would support initiatives aimed at strengthening educational opportunities while also developing entrepreneurship centres and platforms to promote self-employment, business development and skills acquisition.

According to him, the NCDC’s vision is to equip young people with the requisite skills, knowledge and entrepreneurial capacity to become job creators rather than job seekers, thereby positioning them as active contributors to the economic transformation of the North Central region.
The engagement also provided an opportunity to enlighten the students on the Commission’s mandate, development priorities and its commitment to building a region where young people can access opportunities to realise their potential and contribute meaningfully to society.
A statement by Dr. Makut Simon Macham, head of Media and Corporate Communications Department of the NCDC, stated that the students expressed their appreciation for the Commission’s vision and outlined plans for educational advancement and youth empowerment and commended the pioneer Board and Management for giving priority to education and empowerment.
While accepting the award, Dr. Tsenyil said the award underscores the importance of strategic partnerships between the Commission and student organisations in advancing educational development, youth inclusion and economic opportunities across the region.
He said the NCDC remains committed to collaborating with relevant stakeholders, educational institutions and youth organisations to harness the enormous potential of young people and build a prosperous, inclusive and economically vibrant North Central region as encapsulated in its 20-year development plan enunciated during the recently held Stakeholders Development Summit.
