Nasarawa 2023: Afo People Tip Magaji As Senator Adamu’s Replacement
BY AHMED TUKUR, LAFIA – The Afo tribe in Nasarawa West senatorial district of Nasarawa State have tipped Mr Labaran Magaji Esq, Matawalle Toto for 2023 senatorial seat.
The choice of Magaji by the Afo tribe that occupies many communities in the senatorial district and also formed one of the largest ethnic group in the area was taken at a collective meeting by a group of youths and elders in the zone.
The Afo tribe is also the ethnic origin of Senator Abdullahi Adamu, who was governor of Nasarawa State between 1999 1nd 2007 and later Senator representing the zone from 2007 till date.
The group who were led by Alhaji Abubakar Oyibo, a frontline politician and elder statesman in Afo land visited Matawalle in his Abuja office and declared him as the messiah for the zone in 2023.
The group assured Magaji that they would rally round and garner support for him for the 2023 elections by coming out en masse for his success at the poll.
Oyibo also said that the country and the state are in need of personalities like Magaji Matawalle to liberate the people and bring development to the zone.
He said; “We are in your office to pray for your success and assure you of our support and cooperation in your intention towards the 2023 senatorial election”
Earlier, Yusuf Loko, a former Commissioner for education in the state, said that the aspiration of Magaji Matawalle is the beginning of better things to come while urging the people of the state and the zone in particular to work together to ensure that the aspiration comes to fruition.
Responding, Magaji thanked them for the visit and assured them of credible representation if eventually elected, adding that even though he is still consulting, he however promised to make a difference in the red chambers as an experienced lawyer.
Magaji said that he is fully abreast with the challenges of the senatorial district and will not hesitate to create an enabling environment for job opportunities and wealth creation for the teaming youths in the zone
