…As Operation Puff Adder records other feats
BY GRACE ANYANWU, ABUJA – Following the shootings on April 14, 2019 in Numa Kochu village, Nasarawa State which resulted in the injury to and death of innocent persons, the Inspector General Police (Ag. IGP), Mohammed Adamu, has ordered the immediate deployment of combined units of intervention squads to provide additional support to the existing operatives in the State.
This is just as the IGP has directed the Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State to identify and fish out all persons connected to the dastardly killings.
A statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Frank Mba states that the combined tactical team comprise of the the Police Mobile Force (PMF), Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU), Explosive Ordinance Department (EOD), IGP Intelligence Response Team (IRT), Force Intelligence Bureau (FIB) and Specialized Investigators from the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID).
The IGP tactical team is mandated to provide support to the existing security architecture in the State to prevent further attacks and carry out discrete investigation into the killings.
While restating the commitment of the Force to uncover and bring the perpetrators of the killing to justice, the IGP implores any member of the public with useful and credible information that could aid the ongoing investigation not to hesitate to avail same to the Police through the following contacts: 08033097663, 08033674246
In a related development, the Police Operation Puff Adder has recorded yet another feat with the arrest of a top “spiritual father” and one other involved in the kidnap of Channels TV Staff
This is part of the efforts to rid the Abuja – Kaduna Expressway of Kidnapping and other heinous crimes, in which cracked detectives from the IGP Intelligence Response Unit (IRT) and other operatives attached to Operation Puff Adder arrested one Mallam Salisu Abubakar, 48yrs old, a native of Dutsinma Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Abubakar, a self-confessed spiritual father of kidnappers terrorizing Abuja-Kaduna expressway and parts of other North-West/North-Central States of the country, was arrested on April 16, 2019, following painstaking intelligence and subsequent manhunt, in his hideout, in a forest, at Galadimawa Village, Kaduna State.
A statement by DCP Frank Mba said that investigation has clearly implicated the suspect for aiding and abetting the commission of several high-profile armed robbery and kidnapping operations in the North West and North Central States of the country.
Mba further said; “The suspect is notorious for providing spiritual guidance and intelligence for kidnappers, before and after their operations. His arrest, no doubt, will assist Police operatives to apprehend several other kidnappers and vicious criminals still at large.”
The police spokesman also said that operatives on April 14, 2019, in Abuja, arrested one Godwin Ige a.k.a ‘white’ ‘m’ 28years old, a native of Akoko-Edo Locl Government Area of Edo State, who is the fourth member of the gang responsible for the kidnap of Channels TV Staff, Mr. Friday Okeregbe.
DCP Mba said the operatives recovered from him One Berretta Pistol, One locally made pistol, 11 live ammunition, two live cartridges and one Honda Accord car with Reg. No. KWL 420 GU with which the victim was kidnapped on March 22, 2019.
The IGP while appealing for public support, patience and understanding, assures that the Police and other security agencies will not rest on their oars until homes and highways are made safe and secured.
