Natasha To Mrs Akpabio: I’ve Evidence Of Sexual Harassment Against Your Husband
The Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central senatorial district in the National Assembly, has sent a strong warning to Mrs Unoma Akpabio, the wife of President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, to stay clear from dabbling into the ongoing allegations of sexual harassment and intimidation levelled against her spouse.
This was as Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan declared that she possessed concrete evidence to back up her claims, stressing that she remained committed to defending Nigerian women against harassment.
There has been an altercation between the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio and Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan following change of her sitting position without the courtesy of informing her, a development she frowned at and said infringed on her privilege as a Senator.
Accordingly, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan refused to move to the new seat allocated to her during a Senate session, citing Order 10 of the Senate Standing Rules which the Senate President refused to complied with.
The crisis later escalated when Akpoti-Uguaghan featured on Arise News, during which she pointedly accused Akpabio of blocking her motions, maligning her, and intimidating her for refusing to yield to his sexual demands.
But, in her reaction to the allegations raised by Akpoti-Uduaghan, the wife of the Senate President, Mrs. Unoma Akpabio told journalists in Abuja, that her husband is a disciplined personality and could not have made any sexual advance towards Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan.
Mrs Akpabio therefore dismissed the claims of Akpoti-Uduaghan as baseless, adding that the accusations were politically motivated.
But, the fire brand female legislator in a letter dated March 1, 2025, addressed to Mrs. Akpabio through her lawyer, Victor Giwa, strongly advised the former First Lady of Akwa Ibom State to stay clear out of the matter.
Akpoti-Uduaghan pointedly said that the allegations were personal to the Senate President, Senator Akpabio which demands that he should defend himself.
In the letter, titled; “Stay Away from Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Sexual Harassment and Intimidation Allegation Against Senate President Godswill Akpabio; To Safeguard Your Sanity and That of Your Family,” Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan warned Mrs Akpabio that further interference could escalate the issue unnecessarily.
The letter stated; “Our client has tolerated all the harassment from the Senate President but was eventually forced to speak out.
“The allegations are personal to him, and our client believes he has the capacity to defend himself. We suggest you leave the defense to the Senate President to maintain your sanity and that of your family,” it stated.
