National Convention Controversy: Lukman Resigns As DG APC Governors’ Forum
Following controversies and uncertainty surrounding the national convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Director General of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), Salihu Mohammed Lukman, has resigned.
Lukman, it was gathered threw in the towel on Monday as a result of a sharp division among the governors on the platform of the ruling Party during their Sunday night meeting in Abuja.
A dependable source close to the APC Governors’ Secretariat said that Lukman tendered his letter of resignation to the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum and Kebbi State Governor, Senator Atiku Bagudu.
Checks by Forefront News indicated that some of the APC Governors at the meeting demanded the resignation of Lukman or in the alternative should be sacked for what they described as his over bearing posture.
It was also gathered that majority of the governors however wanted Lukman to remain as the Forum’s Director General but he did not wait for a final decision to be taken when he submitted his resignation letter.
Lukman had criticized the Mai Buni-led National Interim Management Committee of the APC for its refusal to allow a national convention to hold as they are more interested in remaining in office contrary to plan.
